Roma Studios - PRESS RELEASE
Tarak Ben Ammar Chairman of Roma Studios
International
film producer Tarak Ben Ammar is the new Chairman of the Board of Roma Studios.
This appointment brings to an end the organizational phase implemented by the
group that less than a year ago purchased, with the intention to re-launch,
the large film studios created by Dino De Laurentiis and designed by architect
Pier Luigi Nervi at the beginning of the 1960s.
Tarak Ben Ammar has a 50.1% equity interest in Roma Studios through Promòtion e Partècipation International S.A.. The remaining shares are held by Seven Ventures Holding, a company owned by Mauro Enrico, Evelyn and Valentina Paretti, and by Raimondo Lagostena's Compagnie Européenne de Cinéma et de Télévision S.A..
During the last meeting, the Company's shareholder appointed the new Board of Directors, which is made up as follows: Chairman: Tarak Ben Ammar, Managing Directors: Raimondo Lagostena e Mauro Enrico Parretti, Directors: Mark Lombardo, Evelyn Parretti, Alex Palermo and Carlo Scarchilli.
Roma Studios,
whose restructuring is almost complete, has been operating over the past few
months with theatres 1 and 2, where two major films were shot: "Marcinelle",
directed by the Frazzi brothers for RAI, and "Cantando dietro I paraventi"
by Ermanno Olmi.
The facilities were thoroughly tested and found totally fit and ready to be
utilized by the film industry. By year-end, all five theatres, and the relevant
structures and services, will be fully operational.
Tarak Ben Ammar
is planning to use Roma Studios for Brian De Palma's next film. In fact, the
great movie director is in Rome to inspect sites for "The Toyer".
The film will be shot on location in Venice, in February during carnival, while
the interiors will be shot on the premises of Roma Studios for 9/10 weeks.
Ben Ammar stated that this will be just the first of a series of approximately
twenty international productions in Roma Studios because, in his own enthusiastic
words:
"After the restructuring, this is once again a unique production site,
a place where not only a page of filmmaking history has been written but where
leading-edge technology is used".
